Take a red cross first aid/CPR...
Take a red cross first aid/CPR class.
The course material is online now; you get a book for the class then a login/pass to download the latest red cross PDFs.

It's good info to know, and get some practice doing. Cert's good for 2 years.

Invest in this:

Outdoor friendly as covers are rubberised and pages glossy. Comes in at 600 grams so not best 'carry-along' book for ULers, I just read bits while at home.

As above go on a first aid course, in the UK basic first aid runs about £50 for a few hours training.
