Hey /out/
Pretty new to this board but here I have pictured a road trip I will be taking from Southern California to Boulder, CO. Can anyone recommend spots along this route for hiking, sightseeing, or shooting? The grand canyon is obviously already on there. I will be passing through Flagstaff AZ as well if anyone knows something outdoorsy I can do around there.

Thanks in advance!

What the fuck would you want to go to boulder for?
I was just there and it's an unhealthy mix of yuppies, hippies, and homeless people. Unless you're a college brah you're not going to find what you're looking for.

If you're not going specifically for the mountains, then just do denver. If you're going specifically for the mountains, forgo both cities.

PS: if you're going for legal bud, it costs twice as much in boulder.

Only thing I know of in Boulder is the Mt. Sinitas hike. It's a nice little dayhike, good workout and a great view, but it gets kind of crowded. There's national forest land all over western colorado, so you can shoot in plenty of places. Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs is pretty cool, but it's pretty pleb-tier in terms of actual hiking. Dragonman's is a really cool place to visit if you like shooting, paintball, dirtbiking, or military history, but again Colorado Springs is a little out of the way on that route.

Well yeah I was thinking about checking out the college thats why I would visit. Not interested in weed but everyone seems to think that first, whereas I forget its even legal in CO
I could always stop in CO springs on the way to Boulder, thanks for the info!

I was originally gonna go through ABQ but decided to stop at the 4 corners instead

Four corners is not worth checking out.
The only thing near there is mesa Verde and that is not that great a ruin

Ha ! I typed that before I saw your post.
I was like "why is he going to four corners?".
Anonymous 07/29/14(Tue)20:48 UTC+1 No.358496 Report

Is it really not worth it? whats somewhere else along the route? I would change my plans but the thing is Ive already made reservations as to where im gonna stay so changing the route isnt an option. I just figured id stop on the 4 corners as it was one the way and I wouldnt have to drive all the way to ABQ and up

Those roads are pretty slow going in places. Mesa Verde is not as cool as chaco canyon but if you are already committed its worth it.
How long are you taking for the travel time excluding time in boulder?
Anonymous 07/29/14(Tue)21:09 UTC+1 No.358514 Report

well the plan was to stop in flagstaff one night, hit grand canyon and four corners next day. Day after head to boulder and stay there for 3 nights, spend a day driving through utah and then a night in vegas

You're going right through green river it seems like, if you take i15 through St. George into Moab and then head west from Moab you'll find Canyon Lands, it's real badass out there, the Red Rock is amazing.

If you do end up going there, be sure to check out False Kiva, maybe even camp in the area for a night if you don't have time restrictions.

Pic related, it's False Kiva in Canyonlands.

No one's going to mention Zion National Park?

Angels Landing was a pretty bad-ass hike. In that it's almost steep enough to require a ladder. Awesome hiking there. Zion Narrow is also popular, hiking up-river and all that.
