How much should I pay for a used kayak? An Ocean Kayak Zest/Zuma to be more precise. There's one near me with no seats or paddles or anything at all, and the guy's asking $430, but he's posted the ad several times already so I'm assuming he's had trouble selling it for that price. I'll be renting one here in the next week or two, is there anything specific that I should look out for?

Also, recommendations and advice are welcome. I know the basics but I'm still fairly new to kayaking. I've been on guided tours as well as rented by the hour/day before but have never owned my own.

It will be used usually by me and the gf, or my and my brother. It will be used for fishing and crabbing inshore and on sloughs mostly, with the odd lake trip here or there. Last time I went out with my gf on the ocean we used a Malibu 2 XL and found it to be a bit chunky feeling and it didn't track well. That's why I think one of these big 16' monsters would suit us better. Transportation won't be an issue as I drive a fullsize truck.

I don't have a lot of space or money, plus I like being able to take turns paddling. I actually enjoy sharing the boat with my gf, she's a great paddling companion.

This. 12ft Aluminum semi v + Older well maintained outboard = $600

+ another 250 and you get a trailer. But the setup car tops fine single handedly. Carries 3. Why paddle at turtle speed when you could be zipping along at 15mph?

Fast, tracks well but is pretty heavy.

Never had another person in it because I'm neet
