So, I'm thinking about working for my local Boy Scout summer camp (Pico Blanco, for those who care) over the summer. I've got nothing better going on, maybe I can do some cooking in the mess hall or something.

Trouble is, I got out of Scouts years ago, and only as a First Class Scout. Should I even bother applying?

Any stories of working at camp, good or otherwise?

I'd say do it. Did many a summer camp, plus winter/Rendevous out there as a kid. Who knows, you might end up as a merit badge counselor in lieu of being a cook.

Former 599 many many moons ago.

Oh... you could also lead the hike up to the top of the mountain as well if you're in the shape to do it. That damn hill was my first introduction to Mountain Mindfucks with it's terrain having so many false peaks as you go up it... served me well in the military later with "3 more clicks" being the standard distance... lol

But goddamn, a spiced cobbler is the fucking best part of camp
