Steve Duncan has a few stories about exploring London's sewers:

On a related note, when does urbex become breaking and entering/tresspassing?

Not much of a citydweller myself, but I'm curious

I hear Sheffield is meant to be good, I think our police can be shitty about it though

the moment you walk into the property line.

The moment you force entry to a fenced or locked area is breaking and entering. Trespassing laws vary by locality, but generally speaking if you pass signage that says it's private property it's trespassing. If you don't see any signs or fences you're usually good to go.

Just don't be a retard and you'll be fine.

If there are signs saying that it's private property in the UK, BUT that land falls under what is legally accessible under the 2000 Countryside Rights of Way Act, can you still walk on the land and fuck the signs?
