/p/ what are the pros and cons of getting a lens mount? I want to get a lens with a wider aperture on my micro four thirds camera (lumix g6) but don't want to break the bank. Was thinking about getting an adapter to go with the lens in the picture

Grab a $8 adapter and a $9 Pentax-M 50mm f/2 from KEH.com. Indescribably cheaper, but comparable in optical quality to the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D with a MUCH better focus ring (since the lens is MF only)

I have no fucking idea about pros and cons of lens mounts, but I am quite satisfied with the lens in the picture.

Your question's fine. There's no rule against making threads about "gear" questions.

But where can i find an $8 adapter? I found the lens he was talking about an i'm eager to buy it but i'd like to purchase it all in the same place, finding adapters on KEH is confusing and unorganized to me.

A speedbooster reduces the focal length by using optics to project the regular image on a smaller sensor size. As a result the amount of light on this sensor area increases by about a stop. depending on the optics used, sharpness might be reduced though. There is the ridiculously expensive Metabones Speedbooster series which supposedly is very good. And then there is the knockoff from Zgongyi and Mitakon I think its called, that can be bought off ebay for around $95. From what I've read that should also be pretty useable. I currently have one on order for use with FD lenses and an MFT camera, so once I figure out if its worth the money I'll report back here.

I have a Nikon - MFT adapter from Fotodiox. Is about $25. Don't use it much though as I only have two Nikon lenses at the moment one of which has an electronic focus range switch that I cant use on my GH3. The adapter has a minimal amount of play but is quite usable for the other lens.
