Nobody cares, the only reason /p/ likes EF-M is because the basic kit is very cheap.

That and both the 22mm f/2 and 11-22 IS are god tier. It's worth buying a cheap as fuck M body just for one of those lenses.

The new zoom? Meh...if you want something really lightweight to compliment your M system I'm sure it's fine. To me mirrorless isn't about teles any way. If I want/need to shoot telephoto I'm grabbing the 7D and a white lens.

Anon, god-tier =/= pretty good for cheap tier
If you think those lenses are god tier, you don't have a good perspective on what good lenses are.

And if you think they're not, you've never touched either one.

I've used the 22, it's good. But it didn't amaze me.

It's like I'm really on /v/, or /a/.

>the lens is SHIT.
>if you don't agree with me, then you are an autist/retard/pleb/etc.

The EF-M 18-55 isn't a fast lens, but it does have IS to help make up for its max aperture in terms of exposure. What it has going for it: from wide open, at all focal lengths, it's sharp across the frame.

The EF-M 22 has a great compact form factor and is fast. At f/2, it has come corner softness (as do a lot of otherwise great fast lenses), but from f/2.8, it's sharp from corner to corner.

At about $100 each, these lenses are a steal.

For comparison, the EF 24-105mm f/4 L, a standard kit lens packaged with high end Canon cameras that costs ~$750, when purchased new, in a "white box", as the EF-M 18-55mm zooms are being sold. Pictured here are both extreme ends of the focal range, wide open.
>mfw 105mm is noticeably soft

What was it you said again? "If you think those lenses are god tier, you don't have a good perspective on what good lenses are"? Excuse me while I laugh.

Slightly out of topic, but I sold off my 60D because a) I don't use it as much I did b) it's a hassle just taking it around when street shooting.

Is the EOS-M and the EF-M 22mm f/2 a good buy at $250? I'll also want to get a custom grip like https://picasaweb.google.com/RichardFraniec/EOSMGripMountingInstructionsSupplement?authkey=Gv1sRgCKKb9cHPup-eSQ#5945171633360472146 though.

It's a great buy at $250. Unfortunately, I've only seen the EOS-M that low when packaged with the 18-55mm lens.

Well I'm not really interested in any other lens for the EOS-M. Does /p/ approve?

Do you want to spend whatever it costs just for the minor convenience of not having to worry about what to do with your lens cap? Yes? Then buy it.

BTW, how does it get power?

Anonymous 07/28/14(Mon)02:46 UTC+1 No.2373268 Report

Well the 22mm extends when it powers on. I think it just uses that mechanical feature to push the blades away.

It's $35 for the cap and mounting system. Link in the video description.
