these are some photos taken with the same camera as OP has. They're smaller than normal 35mm exposures so can't be blown up as big on a normal enlarger, are not as sharp, etc.

>shoots double the number of shots on a single roll
>portrait orientation by default, not landscape
>generally small and tiny, although there are full frames that are just as small or smaller

Definitely not something you use to get awesome image quality out of, but it's fun to shoot with. It's a shooter camera for enjoyment of shooting, rather than for work or anything.

because im a bad photographer obviously, did you even need to ask
Also there's no way to tell whether you're in focus with this camera. You have to eyeball the distance and set the focus based on that. Nothing in the viewfinder indicates whether you set focus accurately.

>>2364987
It's just a fun camera, super portable too
Also you save money on film since you get twice as many exposures per roll, I guess that's a plus.

This is my favourite thing about half frame cameras.
It just feels more natural to me to shoot in portrait orientation.

I paid the equivalent of 40$ locally in sweden, and stuff here is generally a lot more expensive than in the US.
Great camera though, a piece of tape in the middle of the viewfinder helps with focusing a lot.
Image quality is truly excellent for its size.

Depends. Image quality is not great, neither is usability but they're a lot of fun.
Value is in the eye of the beholder but i'd rather get an Olympus XA which is the same size but full frame with a rangefinder.
Whatever floats your boat.

Any Olympus Pen film series if you can find one cheap. F/FE can be expensive, but those are SLRs entirely.

Chaika should also be cheap, good old Russkies.

Canon Demi series, can be good too. I have the EE17 posted above.

Canon Dial series.

These are old ass cameras (half-frames went out of fashion relatively quickly once full-frames came out just as small as them, and film got even cheaper negating the exposure count being doubled), so prices are all over the place depending on quality.

For $3 it's still a steal. It's a faster camera to use, and in a street scenario, it can be used to just as great an effect as the XA for certain shooting styles.

They're used by a lot more people, especially this day and age when you'll actually see the photos people are taking on Flickr or wherever. The quality of the photos is down to the photographers, not the camera.

thats partially true

i know a pro can get good pictures from a toy camera, but get this: there are some cameras that are much more usable, more inspiring, than others. these cameras can help to provide a greater amount of good pictures than other cameras even more capable

Anonymous 07/18/14(Fri)15:05 UTC+1 No.2366118 Report

Small format is already very small and low res. Why would you make it even smaller? Not worth it in my opinion.

Because a half frame loaded with iso 25 b+w or vellvia 50 makes a really fun daylight cam that's not low resolution at all.

Join me people! Buy yourself a Konica Auto-Reflex and learn the joy or switching between full and half-frame mid-roll! Plus, I can use any Konica AR mount lens (or any Nikon stuff with my adapter I found).
