My first roll of Ektar Anonymous 07/06/14(Sun)03:41 UTC+1 No.2356773 Report

I wish I'd gotten more "keepers" out of this roll, it seems that I kept having moments where a cloud would roll in right after metering the scene and I wouldn't notice before I pressed the shutter, so a lot of my shots turned out dull and gray. But I'll post the few that I think turned out nice.

I REALLY like the shadows in this shot. It turned out almost 3D.

this didn't work out as well as I'd hoped... also was my last shot on the roll.

aaand it turns out ISO 100 isn't really fast enough to pick up fireflies. probably should have known that.

Also should probably ditch my Tokina 28mm f2.8 because it seems pretty clear by now it's a piece of shit.. now I'm starting to regret selling my super-takumar instead of getting an adapter.

only one with merit imo

just snapshots, no interesting light, subject or composition (although the power line vanishing point photo had something starting)

these suck, but keep shooting

I have two rolls of ektar myself that I need to send to the lab, but looking at these, I think I might prefer portra.

These aren't exactly too well processed. It looks like OP wants Ektar to perform like Portra, so they're all a little flat. Ektar shines when you punch the contrast as high as you can without flattening the histogram, almost to being similar to the response of a slide film.

Sure it is. Just have to have a fast enough lens.

true. I don't know why the fuck I was using my 28mm f2.8 when I have a 55mm f1.2

tbh I didn't really touch any of them. just let Epson scan do its thing. I suppose I could do a lot more with them but I don't know how to faithfully replicate the "true" look of a film, other than to make optical prints (for which I do wish I had a darkroom setho)

epson gets it 87% there. honestly I still let a lab take care of scans, I don't shoot color enough to be good at it. i usually go into the histogram and just move the sliders to the front and back ends of the waveform for each channel, then adjust the middle one to whatever looks best.
regardless, don't edit too much in the scan. i followed some horrible advice about "preserve all the data in a scan" and scanned everything flat as fuck for muh mids. don't do that. pic related...
