Call of Cthulhu General Anonymous 08/25/14(Mon)19:39 UTC+1 No.34392420 Report

Sup /tg/ I've been working on a homebrew sci fi horror-esq setting, and I'm looking for inspiration. CoC was obviously on the radar, but there are so many editions I don't know where to start.

So this is my question to you: what is the definitive edition of Call of Cthulhu mechanically or otherwise, and for what reasons?

Also Call of Cthulhu General because I don't see it get talked about a lot on here.

There's really only 1 edition of CoC. The latest one is 6E. Get that because all the adventures, old and new, are compatible with it, and with the Basic Roleplaying (BRP) rulesbook.

There's been a kickstarter for 7E with a few modifications to the rules, but AFAIK it's not out yet so don't go for it. It also breaks compatibility with the metric-tonnes of old stuff out there.

Figure we don't get enough CoC threads so I'll bump with some extra pdfs I've got.

Yeah, CoC really isn't an edition focused game.

Apart from the D20 edition apparently being pretty awful, but in fairness I've never played it so I can only repeat what I've heard.
