"Are you challenging me, Kaijin?"

The Humanoid Insect stares at you with his red eyes.

He tenses, slowly going into battle position-- both arms bent into an L-shape. His red scarf billows in a wind that's not actually there.

It takes a large amount of effort to keep playing your flute, but you keep doing it anyway, just so the swarm of rats that's been your safety net won't disperse.

You stop playing for a bit to talk. The rats immediately disperse.

"Let's go look for your... friend?" Well, you say that, but the truth is that you're completely lost at sea and have no idea how to navigate. You just hope Lightning knows how to get back to Kachow's city.

He relaxes and crosses his arms. "Understood. How long until we get to where he is?"

"Well, the truth is... I don't know."

He tenses up again. "What do you mean you don't know!? You guys captured him!"

This guy is kind of scary. Hot-headed AND he made one of your arms explode by kicking it. "_I_ didn't capture him. I was hoping the rats would help with, you know, the searching. You didn't have to attack."

He turns around and walks away. You're left feeling glad that you managed to avoid a fight with that guy.

He DID remind you, however, that you're still lost at sea.

What do you do?
[] Find Lightning. Ask him if he knows what he's doing.
[] Find Blindfold. (And tell him what?)

You find Blindfold, then bring him to the bridge for a team meeting.

First, you turn to Lightning who seems to be controlling the ship with his magic. "Hey, Lightning. Do you even know what you're doing? Where ARE we?"

He shoots you an incredulous look. "Of COURSE I know what I'm doing. I can tell where the cardinal directions are, at least. Which direction is Kachow's capital in? I might have to take a break soon. My MP's running low."

You groan, then address Blindfold.

"So, how do we get that guy to NOT kill us."

He looks thoughtful for a moment. "Well, the only way seems to be finding his friend for him. I suppose that means [The Prisoner]. And I have no idea where we are either."

You feel somewhat doomed. If the Humanoid Insect doesn't kill you, then you're going to die from starvation on this ship.

What do you do?
[] Find the Humanoid Insect. Maybe he knows where we're going.

You scour the ship for seafarers. Unfortunately, the only ones you found are ones already in the process of being killed by the Humanoid Insect.

"Hey, wait! Stop!"

The Humanoid Insect turns. "What is it now, Kaijin?"

"Look. The truth is, we're lost in the middle of the sea. NONE of us know how to navigate the ship except those guys."

He pauses for a moment.

Of the two Seafarers he has, he smashes the head of one with his knee, emptying out its HP bar. He leaves the other one alive. "You. Navigate."

He tosses the seafarer at you, but the seafarer seems to have passed out already.

"Gee. Thanks, Humanoid Insect."

"It's Nigou. You're welcome. I'll be on the deck."

Nigou? What kind of name is that? It sounds important. You think for a moment that he might be a PC. It would explain the absurd amounts of power, at least.

... You realize that if he's a PC, then Zero essentially sent you on a suicide mission.

What do you do?

You drag him to the bridge first, where you find Lightning is now sporting a mage robe and hat.

You heal the seafarer to a level where he's just barely zombie-ish. Although, that might be an extension of your newfound hypnotic powers.

"Hey, you. Seafarer. How do you read this?"

He grumbles a bit. He answers begrudgingly, but answers nonetheless. He takes a look at the map. "Kachow's capital is just one week or so, due south. We've been barely out to sea, you know. How are you all already lost? And stop using my class as a name. I'm nameless."

He crosses his arms, but it looks ridiculous, due to the large boat-shaped protrusion that counts as his armor.

Lightning takes his turn to speak. "Good news, though. MP won't be a problem for a while. I still need to take breaks though. I'm starting to feel tired."

What do you do?
[] "Smooth sailing... due wherever he just said, Lightning."
[] "Full speed ahead, no breaks! The faster we get there, the sooner we can take a break."

"Heh. Smooth sailing from here, then, Lightning. Take a break if you want."

"Whew. Hehe." He lowers his arms, and the ship slows down to a stop.

You subdue the seafarer while he's sitting down. Easier since he didn't expect it. Effortless because he was still under some kind of hypnotic suggestion.

Putting it in Blindfold was another story, however.

"What? What are you do-- stop that!" He's trying to push you off while you have his armor open.

You take out the MP bar that's in there-- it's still unassigned. Looks like he hasn't picked yet.

"... What's wrong with this MP bar? The spells have a time limit of usage. You're forced to switch to the next element in the sequence once time runs out. Who designed this? This is retarded!"

... That explains the element switching during your fight with a seafarer.

What do you do?
[] Give the unassigned MP bar back to Blindfold.
[] Use the unassigned MP bar so you can have a Lightning MP bar-- the only kind you don't have

"Well, do you want this back, then?" You hold the unassigned MP bar in front of him-- as if he can see it.

"... I can't decide what I want anyway. I guess. Can I have both? I'll decide later."

You shrug and give him the MP bar.

You help him get the glass tube back into his armor, alongside the seafarer one, since you have some experience with shoving multiple MP bars where they don't belong.

It's a tight fit, but you still manage to close his armor after shoving the two bars in there.

Looks like you have some free time while Lightning is resting.

When you heal, you feel something ELSE absorbing the magic.

Vines grow out of the stump that used to be your left arm, and form themselves into something approximating a muscular arm.

... You don't feel it at all. When the arm tenses, as if posing to strike, it wasn't because of your command.

However, you somehow at least feel assured that the arm wont' be attacking you.

You encase it with ice.

Not having the Powerfist makes that difficult. Even more difficult still is the fact that the plants are absorbing the magic as you cast, so it takes way more MP than you originally expected.

Thankfully, the Ice, once it's created, no longer counts as magic, and the arm is encased in an inch-thick layer of ice.

It tries to move underneath, but the cold makes it move somewhat lethargically. It eventually stops moving. You're not quite sure whether that means it's dead, or if it just gave up, or even if it's just biding its time.

Nigou approaches you in a hurry, once he realizes that you were on Deck.

"You've changed, Kaijin. Are you planning to attack? Why have we stopped?"

"W-what? No! Why do you keep calling me that anyway? And Lightning's just taking a break."

"No! Stop calling us Kaijin. We're Dragon Knights."

He crosses his arms and cocks his head. "Ah... So you are.... Ryujin."

You through your... arm up in frustration. The other one remains stubbornly encased in ice. "What is it with you and your weird words?"

The boat starts moving again by the time you get back to the bridge. "Whoah, man. What happened to your arm," Lightning asks.

You shrug. "I tried to heal it, but this happened. It's not my arm. Not strictly speaking."

"Hah, so you fucked up your magic again." He laughs.

"It was just a standard healing spell this time, you know."

You spend a few more hours talking with Lightning and Blindfold.

From the bridge, you see Nigou standing at the tip of the deck, his red scarf fluttering in the wind.

Somehow, he looks lonely. He probably just misses his brother.

Too bad you'll have to kill them both.

--

Lightning steers the boat slightly off course, driving it into the beach, some ways off from the capital.

"I think you got a little lost, Lightning," you say.

"No, I didn't. I didn't want to dock at port. We'll need to sneak back into the city."

You take cover when you see Nigou about to kick in the windows on the bridge.

Glass shards fly everywhere. "Kaijin! Is this the city where my brother is? Take me to where he is!"

He points to Kachow's city in the distance.

However, it's more like a parasite.
