New Pathfinder Campaign Lvl 1 Wizard 06/30/14(Mon)21:45 UTC+1 No.33109140 Report

After years I'm finally joining a new Pathfinder campaign, starting at level one, universalist "utility" wizard.

What are things every wizard starting out should keep in mind? Good early feats? Staple low-level spells that keep on giving? Amusing familiar tricks? How to avoid a horrible death at the hands of a house cat?

Grease and Sleep are ridiculous in their capacity for almost singlehandedly ending very low level encounters. Your DM may hate you for using them.

Familiars: Raven/Thrush are pretty top choice for Speak Language and flying. Upgrading to something with spell like abilities at lvl 7 is pretty key for exploiting.

1. Crafting in pathfinder does not require XP, just money and time. So craft to your heart's content! And sell it on the market.

2.Take fast study ASAP

3.TAKE SPELL MASTERY, as much as possible in fact. Probably once every two feats gained. The less you need that spell book, the better you are when SHTF and you are buck naked locked in a dungeon. They thought they had everything did they???

Universalist is terrible. Specialize in a school instead. At level 5 you get Opposition Research which means you would only have 1 opposition school.

Extra spells/day is huge and Universalist has some really lousy school powers.
