I wrote most of what you see on that page, and before the Engagements and Human sections were added, there was a basic playtest run of the system that I GMed (a few characters protecting Mushroom Harbor from Captain Syrup's Brown Sugar Pirates). They loved it and said it was a lot of fun.

The game is designed to be stupidly simple -- like most Mario games -- and allow lots of room for improv and adding your own stuff.

It's not the most immediate thing to come to mind. The Golden Mushroom could reasonably represent anything. They have to realize it's a Mario Kart thing, then they have to know what the Golden Mushroom does, and they have to know how that could reasonably translate into Speed.

If you have to explain the joke, it's a bad joke. You have to pick more immediate symbology, hence the pictures of Mario running, for example.

Rosalina is only big to people who recognize her and know what she does, and considering how distant she is on the whole, I don't expect everyone in the world to immediately ask for her autograph, despite the role she plays in the universe. You only ever really see her hanging out with the big names in the universe, and she usually doesn't hold an audience with just any old goof, at least on her observatory.

That said, it'd be a hell of a hook for an adventuring party in the Super Mario RPG. The party finds a hidden holographic message from Rosalina, including visions and stuff, and it asks them to perform a major task. At the end, they'd end up on the observatory and meet Rosie personally.
