Discontinued Toys Thread 09/28/14(Sun)08:00 UTC+1 No.4442895 Report

Are HCM Pros any good? I'm looking into getting a full AEUG lineup, but if nothing else, just a Hyaku Shiki. I found one on Amazon for $25.

I heard they were 1/200 scale and thought they'd be nice for my desk.

Anonymous 09/28/14(Sun)08:21 UTC+1 No.4442913 Report

They're neat, kind of a cross between a model and an action figure (leaning more towards a model). That means you get some really nice detail considering the small scale, but it also means you need to treat them with care when handling them. They're constructed almost entirely of ABS plastic which can be kinda thin in some spots, so just be sure to treat them as adult collectibles rather than MSIAs and they'll be fine.

If you like how they look and you don't mind paying 20-30 bucks for a 3in tall figure, they can be worth checking out. Definitely start with one HCM first though, just to see how you like it.

Yeah, I was intending to just start with on, being the Hyaku Shiki, since it's so damned stylish.
But, being that it's from near the beginning of the line, I wanted to know if it has any particular issues that later HCMs don't have

if you are going to get a Hyaku Shiki, you sure you don't want to get the GOLD version, it's the same price $25

I'm very skeptical regarding any chromish toy since I've never seen anything outside of promo shots (maybe people just have shit cameras) that look anything above total ass. I'd settle for a dulled metallic/chrome look like the MG HD has, but it doesn't seem like there is one

Do not under any circumstances ever get the EVA ones. I bought one once on a whim since I couldn't find any info on it and it looked cool. (I love that it has a working entry plug gimmick at such a small size!) Which it is, except for its fragility.

The arms are made of a combination wire plastic and rubber. After playing with the figure a few times one of the arms went limp (the internal wire snapped), so I put it out if my sight for a few months. The next time I tried to pose it both arms crumbled.

Anonymous 09/30/14(Tue)13:36 UTC+1 No.4447096 Report

They're kinda cool but I find that because they tried to put SO much articulation into a small figure, parts tend to fall off not to mention the joints due to being ABS on ABS wear out fast. Shame the Rick Dias one I have has such floppy hip joints. The best one I have is the Re-GZ though.

Avoid the following:

Rick Dias
Zaku (there's tons of other, better Zaku figures out there anyway).

If you want a very good Hyaku Shiki i recommend the Kado senshi, it have die cast, lot of accessory (even a full transformable Hi Mega Laucher) and it's very posable, with lot of detail

I have a HCM Pro Virtue, it's great and it comes with a ton of accessories.

But I have huge hands so fiddling around with it is a little hard, I have to be real careful because of all the small parts.

If you want something small and cheap to fiddle with I'd suggest Assault Kingdom.

Yes they are very good. They're very detailed, have nice paint, and great posibility. The #1 issue is the size, which either you can deal with or can't get over. Because they're so small the smaller parts are fragile as well.

Recommendations are the special paint Nu and Sazabi. They're larger units so the figures are bigger than the average HCM Pro. They also up the level of detail on the paint, the Nu have individually numbered fin funnels.

>>4443599
I have the gold plated one and have never had any problems with it. Is there some issue I am not aware of? The different tone of gold on the hands is very unnoticeable.

>>4447096
I have two Rick Dias and they do not have any problems with hip joints. My ReGZ on the other hand does. I think its just QC.

I've had it for about 6 years and its taken a beating over time. The antenna snapped and I replaced it with some piano wire. The rilfe snapped during my last move and I never found the other half of it. Finally the right arm peg snapped and had to be glued into place. All of this was wear and tear damage.
The chrome hasn't worn away and the nubs are unnoticeable. I've honestly considered getting another one to replace the head and rifle, but its perfectly fine armed with the bazooka.

Anonymous 10/01/14(Wed)16:51 UTC+1 No.4449478 Report

Just got mine
he's pretty neato
only issue the antenna is bent in transit (or from the factory) and won't stay and the head seems to stiff to move (not going to force it, this guy's pretty finicky).

Also, the "mustard" yellow from the promo shots are a bit misleading. The color is actually pretty nice on this guy, even if it doesn't show on my crappy phone camera.

Is there a way to tighten up those loose as fuck hip joints? Does the nail polish trick really work or is that some /toy/ troll thing?

I've heard of it working for people a bunch of times before. If you're so skeptical, why don't you look it up? It's a rather common remedy for loose joints.

look for ebay or madarake, it pop up sometime, it should be around 5000 to 7000 yen max , as for the other ms of the line the Rx 78 (with Die cast Gundam Hammer) and Zaku II are quite good same for the ZZ gundam, just avoid the Zeta it's awful

Anonymous 10/03/14(Fri)04:10 UTC+1 No.4452782 Report

I have the Zeta, Asshimar, HiZack, ReGZ and Jegan. The Jegan is damn nice and comes with a great assortment of option parts. I'm loving the ReGZ and Zeta too because the proportions are really nice for this small size.

Does anyone know of any flight display stands that work good with the HCM Pros? The Bandai Action Bases seem to be for 1/144 and bigger gunplay, so I am not going to order any from HLJ because the base probably would look too big. I ordered a few of Wave's flight display stands, I have not received them yet, hopefully they are smaller than Bandai's action bases.

Have you tried Tamashii Stages? They're generally the best stands on the market right now. They are technically made for 6" figures, but I've used them for 1:18 figures as well, so they should do fine for HCM Pros.

...this thread is making me bummed that my HCM Pro collection is in storage half the world away. I want to mess with them suddenly.
