Anonymous 06/19/14(Thu)14:04 UTC+1 No.4237196 Report

Quick question for you guys that only keep a few figures on display and swap em out regularly. How do you store the ones that aren't currently on display? I'm having a bitch of a time figuring out a system that is safe, easy to access, and doesn't take up a ton of room. I have quite a few figures to store, too. Right now I'm doing bins with several "layers" of figures, separated by foam sheeting. Think of it like a lasagna with action figures as the sauce between the foam "noodles." This works ok, but it's a pain to get figures out of the bottom layer since you need to remove everything on top first.

And no, I don't consider "put them back in their boxes" to be a storage solution. I throw out most of my boxes since I have a pretty small place. Which, incidentally, is also why I do the swap display thing instead of having everything out at once.

Don't use this unless it's archival safe foam.
I made the mistake of using soem and it leached the paint right off of a couple of figures. It literally stripped it off all powdery-like and now the figures look like they were bleached where they touched the foam.

Anyway, i mostly leave them just jumbled in a box (i have around 10 of varying sizes), unless they're delicate collector toys, which i put into one of these.
You can also use multiple smaller boxes where you're forced to allow for only one layer per, which allows you to stack them. They sell some shoe storage containers that also have cubbies to seperate them, which fits easily under your bed. They're also made of canvas, which allows for air to circulate (good or bad depending on where you live).
Collecting anything isn't for poorfags. Don't cheap out on better storage.

Yeah, no, you're retarded. The only one of your arguments that holds any water is batteries--I suppose if you're stranded on a desert island you won't be able to use your eReader indefinitely like a real book. But in normal real-world situations, you'll be fucking fine. eReaders typically have FANTASTIC battery life, most are able to run for 1-2 months on a single charge. MONTHS, MAN. Are you telling me you won't be able to plug it in at least once every thirty days?

Everything else you said is so, so very misinformed. Most eReaders use e-ink technology, which is designed to mimic the look of a page and be easy on the eyes. Some do not have backlights at all, and even if they do, you can disable them so there's no "bright light in your face." Then you can use a lamp to light the screen just like an old-fashioned book! And yeah, if you're buying DRM'd digital books you're a fucking sucker. The ebook piracy scene (and by extension, manga as well) is HUGE. Most books are only a few kb and can easily be found with nothing more than a Google search. To top it all off, eReaders are light as shit, incredibly slim, you can carry a library with you everywhere, and they won't give you papercuts or get musty over time.

Face it grandpa, the future is here, and it's surpassed physical books in almost every way. Stop fighting it and give it a try, you might just enjoy yourself.

You must read some rare-ass manga then, since the scanlation thing is so big now that even really obscure stuff is getting picked up by one of the thousands of groups. I'd still recommend using an eReader, and only buying the few things you can't find online.

Anyway, that seems somewhat irrelevant since pretty much everything I can see on your shelf is painfully common and easy to find scans of. If you have some rare stuff that can't be found scanned, it must not be on those shelves.

Hard to believe you even post on a board that requires you to have a physical medium.... or do you just like looking at the pictures, adding resentment and fuel to steal more shit because you feel entitled to it?

Also, tablets are shit for reading comics. Maybe manga is ok because the shrunken art is designed to be read in a smaller format, but for larger mediums? Shit. Fuck zooming in or not being able to get a full size spread like this in a higher resolution than a screen provides. Of course, you need a color screen for this which isn't as good as e-ink screens.
Nevermind that electronics love to break now, within only a few years. I still own electronics i bought in the 80s that still work. Even stuff in the 90s and into the 00s. Stuff since the last half of 00? SO MUCH BROKEN CHINASHIT.

I do not trust electronics these days and do not support mediums that use online DRM, because fuck the greedy corporations who take away our consumer rights. No online music, no software, no streaming movies, no nothing that strengthens a company's ability to control your rights through a tablet or computer.
And that's why i support physical mediums, because as long as that exists, poorfags like yourself will continue to be able to pirate shit, because consumer rights allows people to scan those books. With physical media, we have ownership for the product and can use it, sell it, share it, in the ways we have been using them for hundreds of years.

Is it weird that, while I do plan on collecting more, I never want to get a collection even half the size of this?
It just seems more like a hassle to have to dust and clean, and deal with them. Also, I don't spend much time in my room so that means less time to really appreciate what I've collected.
Or am I going about this with the wrong mindset?

Nah, if anything that's an excellent mindset.

I'd say 'same here' but then my collection kind of hit the 100 mark a while ago. On a positive note, there's not many figures I want to buy nowadays.

Theres a manga about a guy with a sentient revoltech. Its a girl with green hair and has some sort of square on her head, like its part of her sculpt. He drills holes in her and attaches more arms, and does all sorts of silly stuff with it. Theres another girl that he also plays with, I think she had big boobs and pink hair. Theres also a scene where he drills a hole underneath that one and the green hair one takes off her head and sticks her neck joint in the hole drills in between her legs. Anyone ever read something like this?

books smell nice and feel nice and look nice, and can be loaned and sold and traded. also it's good to support authors/artists so they continue to produce works you enjoy. I pirate shit sometimes too, but I do buy my favorites

additionally, you talk like a fag and your shit's all retarded

Literally, weebos collect manga, you fucking loser. Wow, 100 copies of a series, you must be very deep and smart, right?

You can literally read it for FREE, the fact that they're 6x thicker than a comic just makes it worse, it keeps up space and it only looks good to you. You want your display to look go to you AND others, otherwise you look like the biggest loser ever, so have fun buying free books, weeb.

The manga is so useless anon, why not just give it too goodwill? Literally, it only takes up space, you'll never read it again, and it's absolutely free on the internet, just donate it to some weeb, or a charity to make a new weeb.

I don't see why people collect it and put it on a shelf to show it off, people don't do that with their comics, it's just a sad waste of money and makes you look bad.

He's right anon. There's no life in those figures. You've posed them doing stuff, but they still look like plain old toys, instead of giving the illusion of movement.

And the old "Let's see if you can do better" argument is s pleb tier response. You should've moved past that back in Jr High.
