I've been on a kick for tanks, helicopters, fighter jets, battleships etc. recently.
I was thinking of getting some toys of them.
Would it be better to get die-cast ones or model kits? I saw some of both recently and they looked cool. Also if model kits pre-painted or grey?
Pic related, I saw this halftrack among other things at a local store.

Model kits are almost never pre-painted, you'll have to build and paint them which will be an investment in time and money, but after a little practice you'll make ones that look as good as die cast, and soon even better than die cast. Also you'll have the satisfaction of having made something and a hobby you're not embarrassed about.

If painting and building does not appeal, then die-cast.
