I'm not sure if I understand this correctly. Does this mean vendors can order and sell individual figures instead of buying the entire case? Wouldn't this be a case of "made to order"?

People are complaining about Nova's price, but didn't we already have a ML Nova a few years back? What makes this one so special?

>Wouldn't this be a case of "made to order"?
More or less.

It used to be a courtesy extended to retailers back in the day, where if a retailer blew through their entire allotment of X figure they could order up a case of just that guy, but manufacturers cut back on it for logistics reasons and simplicity, plus to shoehorn in their other produced wares so they're not sitting on them when only 1-2 figures in a wave are selling hot. I'm not sure if that courtesy was extended to places like comic shops in the past, but with Diamond in the mix I would assume they most certainly would benefit.

...Right?

I recived my super hero showdown spiderman and thing today. I got a set that was brand new on the card, and thanks to the crappy job toy biz did in packaging these, I had to reshape several warped parts. Not a hard fix, but just kind of annoying.
>>
Anonymous 06/18/14(Wed)20:18 UTC+1 No.4235765 Report

While I was in the mood to fix things, I gave spidey a little extra shoulder articulation by cutting a "V" in the top of his shoulder joint.

The are where I removed the "V" is only visible when is arm is posed completely at his side, and even then, its only the bottom tip of the V and only if you look at from the top.

Over all hes a great figure, I love all the molded details and I love that he come with a figure stand.

New Blade disappeared in the Great Hasbro Variant Purge, but with their recent showings it may one day appear, who knows. There hasn't been a single good Legends Punisher, and anyone who says otherwise is unhinged. Deadpool got a ho-hum release with an ugly body, weak articulation, and generally unimpressive accessory count all things considered.
>>
Tad Ghostal 06/19/14(Thu)06:19 UTC+1 No.4236775 Report

newer pool is easier to get than old, negligible articulation improvement. aesthetics are about the same as the old one (worse head sculpt vs the old one's giant shoulders)

the newer punisher has a crap body that's been reused too much. I hope that mold bursts into flames.

I'm not gonna lie I was pretty disappointed with him too. He can barely even hold his bow. I was able to get him in a decent pose at least, hes pulling out an arrow from his quiver getting ready to take a shot. His sculpt is decent but his articulation, like most of the Select line, is limited and his joints are loose as fuck. Getting him in a decent pose was a nightmare. Especially moving him from my table to my shelf.

Would not recommend. I however needed him for my Avengers lineup. I'm doing a movie team with their comic costumes. I already have Hawkguy, Iron Man, Thor, and Bucky Cap. I was thinking about swapping Bucky for the Classic Cap figure but an anon in the previous Marvel General advised against him. I just ordered Widow and Hulk so I should get them pretty soon. Still debating the Diamond Select ASM2 Spidey though. He just looks awesome.

GotG Marvel Legends are "officially" out at target now. They may not be on the shelf, but they should be in the backroom. The boxes were marked with a "do not place on shelf until 6/20/2014" label on them so I imagine that stopped most stores from stocking them until today. I work there and even waited until today to buy mine just in case...since I use my employee discount. I bought nova and put the rest in the back.

For lunch, we grilled some hot dogs, it was really nice. I found the Black Cat in the Walmart, my girlfriend seemed a bit annoyed that I wanted to stop by and check it out. I told her I was on vacation and we went to wal-mart because I've never been to one that sold fireworks or, guns before. I was also very tempted to buy a machete for $7.96. That's a good price for such a thing. My girlfriend insisted that I don't.

Anyway, I went into toy aisle and discovered how much more exciting the toy section was here than back home in New Jersey

They even had two of those 40 inch Godzilla figures that are being scalped too hell. I was tempted to purchase one but the trip back would be difficult.

I've been clamoring for Star-Lord toys since I read Thanos Imperative and that was 2 years before a movie was even announced. The movie figure has a boring costume so yeah, I definitely want either a classic Star-Lord or the uniform look. I don't really care about the movies, I'm just hoping for some good to come of it (especially since the current run fucking sucks).

Marvel Legends Series Five

Yeah. His figure was going in the low $60s, which was basically what Venom was going for at its height of demand. I agree he was a disappointment, Jean St Jean doesn't really do a lot of phenomenal work with his MS stuff. It had the same ugly clunkiness as his Winter Soldier sculpt, and the same inability to be properly posed with its primary weapon. JSJ is better off doing display stands than with ruining figures.

The thing that looks so shitty to me is how mixed up it is aesthetically. It's supposed to be vintage, but aside from the clothes (sort of) there's nothing really vintage about it at all. The face isn't even close to first appearance, the grungy paint work doesn't match the time period, the musculature is far too defined to be a 60s look, and the veiny arms are something that didn't become popular in comics until decades later. Everything about it is a complete anachronism.

I don't get what's up with that sculpt.
IT's so cartoony, something that Diamond rarely ever does.

Not even the comic that design first came out in was that cartoony... or did they use the XMEN:TAS art to base it on?

Anyway, i prefer the thoughtful redneck Sabretooth the Face Off one represents rather than the feral one he became with Jim Lee's design.

It's the Jim Lee design that was present in both the comics and the animated series. It's not completely based on TAS. They're both the same basic design.

There was a faggot that used to stalk our TRU (I worked there long enough to know his bullshit) for Transformers. Masterpiece Grimlock, First Edition Prime, all that shit, he'd call and call and call and come in and he'd give us SO many bullshit stories about how he just wants to buy one for him and his "son" and how unfair it is that scalpers get to things first.

Well, when he actually came in for the First Edition Prime figures (after calling literally 4 times in a row checking to make sure we hadn't sold them since I refused to hold them for him), he bought the whole case, going on about how he's just getting some for his son and him. Well he walked right into Rzone, got on the phone and called his buddy up. "Yeah, I got the figures, can you pay me for them today?"

The guy was a shitbag, always had a baseball cap on, lazy eye.

I remember when he was scalping Skylanders too, he came in pissed off because we wouldn't sell our whole stock of Whamshells to him. "I called corporate and they said I could buy as many as I want!"

What a fag to not admitting it's for yourself when trying to hit on a girl.

Most times girls are surprised that a handsome guy such myself would even collect toys, because they see a suave guy wearing a fedora and skinny jeans buying a toy.

but seriously, i get surprised/joking flirts all the time about the toys i buy.
Feels good when a girl thinks she's good looking enough that she can rib a customer without getting in trouble, because they're usually not, but hey... a flirt is a flirt and my self esteem shoots up.
I bet it's how pretty girls feel everyday, but without worrying about the rape.

Besides, if you're ever serious and ask someone on a date, they're going to find out about your collection or your non-existent little brother.
Nothing's more pathetic than a liar, because it shows how you have no real self confidence.

It's extremely funny when girls ask what my hobbies are (they are mostly just friends as I have a long time GF so I don't go around hitting on chicks), and I tell that my hobbies are comics. They get all confused and shit, almost like they don't understand what they're hearing.

Then the face when they visit my place for the first time: My mancave has many shelves of comics and comic related toys and they just go: "Oh.. you really meant comics.." And after I talk about collecting for a while everyone seems okay with it.

I don't care what other people think about my hobbies, and I don't judge other people based on their hobbies.

Whatever, I didn't really expect anyone to believe me anyways.. and it's pretty normal life besides. Just can't deny the fact that I have been blessed by genetics. And wanted to point out it is important to not care what others thing about your hobby.

I mean how can you really enjoy collecting the figures if you're ashamed about them. I act like a giddy little kid when I find something I wan't at toy store and neither me or my gf give a fuck about what other people think.

But to more important things. Anyone know of a "cheap" or affordable way to get agent venom in Europe. If i order it scalped from US, I have to pay 30% tax out of the figure AND shipping fees. Meaning it will cost like over 40$. Is there a wahlgreens alternative or something somewhere in here. That agent venom is so (to quote the earlier anon about my life) sugoi!

So my spider-man collection is steadily growing. Now is movie Electro worth it (mainly interested in Earth-616 characters) for Ultimate goblin hand. Cause ulti gobby is kinda cool looking.

Or rather, does agent venom come with some baf piece?

Also thinking of getting spider-girl if there are some left when I next get some extra money. Not interested in toxin, cause the figure just looks so bad imo. I would have loved a more tentacley toxin.

And even then, its more of an principle to not pay too much over the things actual value. Tbh, I think the total would be closer to 50$ rather than 40$. And thats a lot for hasbro quality figure.

Employees never ask why you're buying figures or what you want them for. And if the occasion question comes up at the register man up, smile, and say, "Oh I collect them. No gift receipt needed, thanks though."

The head looks too big for that body, and the wash on the head looks out of place becouse there is no wash on the body, it looks mismatched. You should have either not washed the face, or washed the face, and then wash the body as well.

No it isn't. The top/down perspective is skewing the size of the head to the body. Otherwise the head would be like two inches tall, and, well, it's not.

so I ended up picking ASM2 Spidey up today. For a Select he is actually pretty good. He's got double jointed knees and ankle rockers which I haven't seen on a Select before. Overall one of their better figures. The only weird thing is he didn't come with a base which is a little weird for an MS. I'll have to come up with something cool to do with his web lines or get a flight stand.

They've been doing double knees and rockers for a little while now, though it is partially sporadic. Silver Surfer, Winter Soldier, WS Cap, DW Thor, both IM3 releases, etc.

Also there's 3 releases of the ASM2 Spidey, one comes with the base that was included with ASM1 Spidey.

Is the Spidey you picked up the fireman helmet one, or the unmasked head one?

Fireman Edition. I don't think my LCS had the unmasked one. And yeah I noticed that Spock has double jointed knees too. I kinda wish they had the one with the base, but I'm thinking of getting a flight stand and have him hang upside down or something.

I wonder if the inevitable avengers 2 legends line will be up to par with the recent movie legends, like winter soldier wave and ASM2 wave, or if itt'l be crap like the first avengers hasbro 6" figures

...I felt like the Walmart Avengers stuff was actually better than recent movie stuff like GotG and the majority of ASM2. The Hulk sculpt they introduced was great and should stand as the immediate runner up to Face Off as people's go-to Hulk, Hawkeye may still very well be the best representation of the character (in any form) in 6" scale bar none (plus dat Renner manlet accurate scaling), Loki had a solid movie accurate sculpt with fun and thoughtful costume layering, and the Cap was nice despite any shortcomings the movie suit may have in many people's minds. And all of that on an exclusive line's budget, too.

WS was a freak wave though, it'll go down as one of the best movie waves Marvel has ever had.

There's a way to see for sure if/when your Walgreens is getting the Spidey Legends, and how many, but I'm not going to post it here because any random retard can find it then, and I'm not about sharing with scalpers.

So if anyone puts up their e-mail I'd be happy to share.
