Can't say I had the same emotional response but I really love the game.
Did anyone hear beat all the time attacks?
Got a save on my PS2 with HTA and NTA beat and last time I played it, I was trying to gather all fruits and lizards at least once. Should pick it up again for PS3, once I have one.

Did you guys play Ico too?

I beat the Time Attacks, but never managed to get all fruits and lizards.

I never could get into Ico.

Ico is great too, especially considering it was an early PS2 game and having godawful cover art for the american release.

but besides that i will say i absolutely fell in love with SOTC on a totally different level than i do any other game.

i spent real life months just riding around on horseback, exploring the island, enjoying the scenery, catch a ride on an eagle every now and then, parachuting down canyons. i just lived in the game world throughout most of my days.

then i quit smoking weed and got a job

When SOTC came out I played it nonstop for an entire weekend and beat it twice. I know that feel well. I wound up custom ordering a brown sweatshirt with the colossus weak point symbol on the back in white. Of course at that time there was no good image of the symbol so I had to find screencaps and recreate it myself in photoshop. Came out looking really cool actually.

I was going to go 'SHM when' but christ they'd probably only be able to put out the humanoids, you don't realize how fucking big some of those things were when you were clambering all over them.

That's both touching and hilarious.

I've been wondering if a convincing colossus cosplay would be feasible, what with the fur and all. With a kid dressed as Wander next to you it would look awesome

Especially if the colossus' costume is like the Universal Ride Transformers suits, with stilts, and the person's head in the suit's chest/neck area, making them extra tall
>>
Anonymous 08/11/14(Mon)03:13 UTC+1 No.4348890 Report

>>4348636
Exactly. In fact the "head in the neck" trick is how good ol' godzilla works.
>>4348487
>>4348492
Looks nice, but the fur would make that costume.
Getting enough synthetic fur must cost an arm and a leg tho.
Maybe making a custom figure/statue would be easier, and cheaper too.

The first flying one you fight is the spookiest by far

>that foggy lake
>it just sits perched on those ruins watching you until you fire at it with your bow
>no matter which way you go it is always looking in your direction

I swam as far away from it as possible without going too far to not see it and never failed to get chills when I'd see that big motherfucker glaring at me through the mist

oh, Colossi... I just couldn't kill you. I got about halfway through the game and quit because letting them live free was more important than reviving my stupid girlfriend.

just for reference, those are about 4inches (except the doggish one, which is about 2)

Dude, that game is about so much more than killing those big guys. There's more to the Colossi and what's happening in general than is even hinted at in the beginning. Also, I'm pretty sure that's not Wander's girlfriend either...

You need to finish the game!

NAH!
This guy. Right here.
Hydrus.
His lair is way the fuck out in the middle of nowhere. It's a spooky bottomless lake that you have to swim in to attract his attention.
Just majorly creepifying.

This game had EXTRA MODES?! in the PS2 version? I was already overly satisfied by all that climbing and the weird ending that i never noticed.

Hell yes!

Hard Mode-
Unlocked after you've beaten the game at least once. In this mode, the colossi
weakpoints are moved, they do a lot more damage to you, they are harder to kill.

Normal Time Attack Mode
Unlocked after you've beaten the game at least once. Kill the colossi before the timer runs out.
You get rewards:
1. Whistling Arrow - whistles through the air. Distracts a colossus.
2. Cloak of Force - Lets you cause more damage to a colossus. It becomes
stronger when combined with the Mask of Strength or Power.
3. Mask of Strength - The wearer of this mask is granted the power and strength
of the titans. Able to inflict deep wounds on a colossus.
4. Lizard Detection Stone - Displays the lizard locations on the map.
5. Fruit Tree Map - Displays the fruit trees on your map.
6. Mask of Power - Same as the Mask of Strength.
7. Cloak of Deception - Makes your presence invisible to the colossi.
8. Flash Arrow - Has an explosive tip that can damage a colossus.

Hard Time Attack-Same as hard mode only with a timer.

Rewards:
1. Harpoon of Thunder - A long spear with long range and enough power to damage
a colossus.
2. Sword of the Sun - Allows you to reflect sunlight even in the dark.
3. Fruit Tree Map - same as above.
4. Shaman's Cloak - Wearing this gives you more protection against attacks.
5. Lizard Detection Stone - same as above.
6. Shaman's Mask - Same as the Shaman's Cloak (btw, this is the mask they show
you at the beginning of the game).
7. Cloth of Desperation - Can be used as a parachute if you fall from a
colossus.
8. Queen's Sword - The sword from ICO. Inflicts a mortal blow in one
strike.
