Brace yourself for the usual onslaught of anti-volunteerism that for some reason infects /trv/. Otherwise we are a pretty rational board, visitors from other boards excepted.

If you are religious at all, your best bet would be to contact your local International House of Worship, whatever brand you use, and see what they got going.

Be aware that there is an argument to be made that by providing unskilled labor for a charity, you ma be depriving a local of such a job -- the argument seems flawed to me, based on the idea that such a job should be available if the charity withdrew, but at least think it through.

Also, be aware that most charitable organizations are not really set up for the purpose of providing free travel to adventurous people -- it will cost you about as much as traveling just to travel. You'll save something on food and housing because for most charities those will be cheap-as-chitlins and of similar quality.

But if you are interested in helping somewhere, that won't be an issue.

Good luck with it.
