I just came back from wwoofing...
I just came back from wwoofing in Ontario. I smoked weed and did mushrooms with my host. Had a great time even if the work was tough at times.

For the first few days, I was wondering what the fuck I was doing here picking fucking tomatoes and shit, but then I chilled out and everything was great.

I would recommend wwoofing but you have to carefully choose your host. By carefully I mean that you choose depending on what you feel about the host when communicating with them. Not by whatever buzzwords they use in their profile.

I did workaway on Crete for a month. Come the end of it, I was craving social interaction as I was up in a remote mountainous village and my hosts were pretty private. Think about what you want to get out of the experience and base your hosts on that.

cant emphasize that enough!
i had a really bad experience in hungary with an old (but tough) woman living alone i a remote farm. after a week and a lot of fighting with here i left. she was completely mental, hitting her animals, doing one task for 5 minutes, than dropping everything to go for another task, than dropping everything and so on the entire day. and she expected me to do the same. in the beginning it was fun, but after two days it became difficult and after three days we started fighting....

the only people I've ever talked to who had a good time were people who had never had a job, tons of money/time to burn, and who enjoyed the experience of having work for the first time in their life.

it's hard, and a waste of time unless you're interested in organic farming.

Anyone else is going to want to work, earn money, and take an extended vacation

working 5-6 hours a day and having zero money at the end sucks balls
