hey /trv/

i'm planning on converting my small van into something passable as a campervan and drive down the UK and out into Europe for an indefinite amount of time, mostly to get some photography done - mainly astro stuff.

Has anyone done anything like this? Share your stories please if so, even if not photography related at all, never travelled out of a vehicle before, any help would be great.

You're not going to find a good patch of sky in the UK, way too much light pollution.

well, I live near Kielder at the moment, and actually, we get pretty decent skies, but that is besides the point - I just want to road trip it through Europe for that purpose, I plan on blitzing through the UK.

It was more solo euro road trip stuff i was hoping people would share; essentials for a campervan conversion or a fuel budget for 6 months of solid travelling around europe in just a van etc

Never done anything like that, but this map might be useful, if you have not seen it. There's still some dark sky in Britannia if you know where to look.

Where did you find such a useful tool?

Googled "dark sky map." Somewhere out there they have maps that factor in likeliness of getting a cloud-free night as well, at least for aurora borealis areas, but I didn't search long.
