>>18014775 This is being handled beyond shit. If there were some kind of shit monster that had doubly bad shit and that doubleshit was hired to handle our plot it would probably better than it is now. I'm not participating or contributing to this shitornadoverflow. Fuck continuing this stupid thread.
>>18015112 Hold your horses, I only play casually But thinking about it there is a guy that can teach you all the moves the mon can learn, so I still agree with >>18015036 that it sounds like a fancy way of saying it evolves at level x.
>>18015152 yeah...and?? it was voted this way. what do you want?
>>18015178 it learns thundebolt, thunder, flamethrower, fire blast, overheat, and charge beam. ice beam and surf would be nice but i don't think it lacks special tms. i never even really mentioned tms.
>>18015224 >yeah...and?? it was voted this way. what do you want? I'm agreeing with the guy that it's odd because it seems to be a matter of semantics. I don't care too much, but I don't fully understand the thought process behind it (GFs and ours).
>>18015292 Yeah, it's kinda sad that the challenge aspect of video games has been reduced to skill and not puzzle solving or discovery, since everything is so easily and naturally accessable these days.
y'all need to cool your tits with regards to the pokemons' heights. wigglytuff is 3'3" according to its dex, yet it has appeared both as knee-height next to ash and as 7'+ next to nurse joy. the heights literally mean nothing to anyone except the trolls who think it's funny to spam 2' votes on obviously 6' mons
>>18016079 Not sure what motivated the change, nor the difference in stats total for Orbatom, but I'm okay with it having decent special attack. If changing stats totals is a thing though, I wouldn't be opposed to Atomite getting a number that isn't divisable by ten or five, though that's very much a detail.
>>18016835 You meant the old stats, not my changes. There is a difference there. Miscommunication. I'm against lowering the special defense as electron cloud density can lead to shielding from energy absorbancy. It has some concept creedence for special defense, but the defense part is a bit iffy.
With your changes, I suggest taking 10 defense into special defense
No but someone ran some stat calcs and Dunky can knock it out before it kills dunky. Which is an issue. I'm just trying to fix it and reallocate stats man. No need for personal attacks. I stat with what I feel is good or is right. This is me being asked to make it not shit.
>>18017181 Dunky in rain is what we're countering. 180 base speed is what we're going for. Dunky with aqua jet is going to be the rock head set, which you can counter with grass mons. It's dunky in rain that Orbatom counters and has 200 speed for
I saw someone else echo this point in a separate thread, but it still stands: why are all the mons here designed to be competitive? why does every stat distribution have to be focused on countering a specific threat? furthermore, as multiple graphs have shown, everyone just wants to go fast. that was a huge flaw in gen VI, it just turned into one big clusterfuck of "muh priority" "NO MUH PRIORITY"
>>18017414 I agree, but I think it's fine to balance them like we're currently doing. Orbatom isn't too useful as a standalone but can still be used well, as well as preventing other mons from being too broken.
I agree with the speed though. We really need to lower our average a bit.
>>18017414 Because things need roles. All mons have roles. Heals, DPS, Tank. Those are the general roles for RPGs. With pokemon, it is spread out and more diverse. So we fill those roles. We have 225 pokemon that we labored to vote in to their spot in the dex. If it isn't usable it is a waste of a spot in the dex
>>18017465 >usable again just bear in mind that there's a lot of ground between Uber and semi-decent. We should use that ground fully. The only thing none of us wants is one or more absolute garbage mons.
>>18017465 valid point, but I mean consider a pokemon game you've played before. who wants to be on Rt. 4 and encounter a well-honed special wall? that's useless as a wild mon. I feel like this is going to lead to a really dissatisfying in-game, because AI is never smart enough to use mons in their intended roles, so you'll end up fighting "electrician Jeff" who has two Atomites and an Orbatom. real interesting fight there
>>18017414 because we are trying to make evrythingusable so and avoid to have some mons being superioror in any way than every similar mon, so we TRY to give every mon a purpouse. And of course there will be mediocre mons, like capabara or others. Also we have a higher speed in evarage but we don't have tons of fast mons, the average is higher because there things like orbatom that have 200 speed, but have a lot of slow bulky mons too.And as everything in this project keep in mind no one of us has ever made this kind of thing professionaly so we try our best but of course there will be many flaws, we have to try things to se how they work.
>>18024234 Did the survey specify whether it was going to be even split mixed or anything of the sort? Its current moveset is pretty heavily physical but that can be adjusted. But Eldonkeyo had No Guard Zap Cannon so avoiding Zap Cannon seems like a good idea to me. What the heck else is there? To me, honestly, Chameleohm reminds me of the gecko/iguana whatever boss from KH and whatever the elder dragon's name from monster hunter was. But whatever, to be perfectly honest I disagree with Luchaducha getting No Guard Zap Cannon because now cama cama chameleohm can't use it without it just being less appealing. What moves can he get that make him useful over TheDon?
>>18025339 >>18025339 Surveys for height aren't a consensus at all when they grab the average of all of the results. We don't survey gym leaders then agglomerate all of the concepts in proportion to how many votes they got. We shouldn't do it with height either. People have a definite image of a mon in their head that allows a bit of wiggle room for exact height for a few inches. We see Terrorcotta as as larger as a house or perhaps slightly smaller and we see Comossus, the Golems, etc. as fuckhuge. These are a majority consensus on a height concept but people like tin soldier anon come along with their views of Comossus as a foot tall and fuck it all up. It doesn't even need to be to that extent. We need a different way to deal with heights, preferably in thread consensus. What we got as a result of these surveys is basically worthless in the eyes of the vast majority of people.
>>18025700 I personally dont mind... Like, it'd be good if Vay showed results (did he?), but in general, I doubt there will be as much -people with different tastes-. What is DEFINETELY worse are stats surveys - like, even ones that give just rough directions aren't that good, because it is proven that a) people in general know jackshit about statting and b) they dont bother to check other mons before voting so in turn we have to tweak 3 more things... That and "muh bro" bullshit clashed with "480" and "it doesnt look powerful"
>>18025700 The difference between height and concept surveys is that with concepts, we're at least limited to choosing from one of four or five choices. If we had to run off height surveys over and over until a "consensus" was made for 230 different Pokes... this game would never get finished.
>>18026110 >>18026152 I don't think the parallels reflected in the movepool should be so extreme. Remember, it's Magikarp line: weak to strong Feebas line: ugly to beautiful Fortifry line: selfish to compassionate
Feebas learns many more moves than Magikarp because the focus of its design isn't being weak as it is with Magikarp. Likewise, Fortifry,s movepool shouldn't be as dramatically limited.
>>18026525 I guess the best way to make it would be to give it many good moves after learning wish that evo doesn't get, so when you finally evolve it into a compassionate evo you have accumulated scrooge mcduck wealth and can really help people much.
>>18026537 'kay, thanks for good word, stay if you want.
>>18027595 You want a survey for a faulty design with aspects that has already been voted for removal. You trying to shoot down the confirmed design by calling it faulty is a shit argument you would not have even made if 3tops hadnt drawn his wrong sugi.
>>18027603 >Hope >Survey pls Shut the fuck up you mongoloid brofag
>you would not have even made if 3tops hadnt drawn his wrong sugi. The only thing 3Tops did was bring consistancy in the design and its proportions. That's a good thing, and I encourage him to do so. He actually made the design look better, why wouldn't we take his version?
>>18027863 I remember clearly that when we where finishing up the dex last year is that the minor changes limit was on 66%. I don't really believe it will convince you. Pic provided is the final old OP that I saved. I doubt Boarealis approval level has changed even a bit since we haven't re-surveyed it at all and you and the second guy are the first ones to talk about it today.
>>18027911 >a buzzing swarm of young Toxito is easily confused for the hum of a car engine maybe the buzz is louder than a car engine Given their habitat, I doubt they have many run in s with cars the repel bit on Sanguin is a bit awkward
>>18028236 >I don't want to possibly improve a design just because we said we can't! Not that guy but I hate this thought process.
Changing a design requires a lot more effort than just changing it. We'd need a new sugi We'd need a new front sprite We'd need a new back sprite We'd need a new icon We'd need new OW's We'd need to change everything else that includes the design, like the wiki
I'm not saying we absolutely shouldn't touch anything ever again, but be conservative with your votes. Its going to cause a LOT more work than you think
>>18028411 In boarealis's case, the new design already has a sugi and front sprite in line with the new design. The details are too small to affect overworlds and icons and the thing needs new back sprites period.
>>18028666 Well Thats one of the reasons we want to keep the changes minor. So that changes would only need edits instead of a whole new sprite. Aguanaut was a problem because we wouldn't stop changing it and everyone got burnt out
>>18028781 I would really like if you pointed out specifics. I am in process of restating right now and constructive input is welcome. Also, via speed min-maxing - speed is the kind of stat you have to do with other mons in mind. Speed tiers are one of the most metagame defining aspects and in that stat, substracting 4 points really means a lot.
What reason do we have not to survey the boars besides "because no"? We have other things like that to survey anyway, it would be so easy to throw it in and see what the people think. Just because it's in a survey doesn't mean the new one will win, and if it does then it's because the majority likes it better. We seem pretty split on this issue and it's not much extra work at all to add it to a survey, so why wouldn't we? I don't care much about the outcome either way but I think it should at least get a chance..
>>18028941 Well, that is kinda problematic, but even last thread I saw someone restatting chameleohm I proposed to have only 5 and 0 in stats. Well, but I think I now can submit the special spread to the wiki.
>>18028997 >>18028936 >ust because it's in a survey doesn't mean the new one will win, Now here is where you are wrong, people dont browse these threads 24/7. They might not read this thread. Unless specifically stated people would vote for the old inproper sugi because they would think that is the real one
>>18029036 ...I don't understand what you're trying to imply here. We're not allowed a survey just in case someone wants to vote for the old one because they think it's aesthetically better even if they don't peruse these threads?
>>18029036 >Unless specifically stated people would vote for the old inproper sugi because they would think that is the real one
But the survey is to give both variations of the design a chance, unless I'm completely misunderstanding this issue here. The whole point of surveying something is to let people express their opinion, not to make sure everybody votes for the one you like best.
>>18029142 Indeed. We're not asking for a definite change to the boar but a fair survey depending on which people like better. The longer proportions worked more imo and in several other people's opinions from what I've seen in thread.
>>18029171 And if it turns out the majority likes the old one better, that's ok, but the new one shouldn't be scrapped just because you say so. Let the people decide, and if they don't agree with you tough shit.
>>18028610 >the thing needs new back sprites period.
On that, I tried making linework for a new backsprite. As an example, the middle one uses colors from the current front sprite but the shading/coloring would need to be properly done by someone who can actually do it.
Here's another Dex entry for you guys to tear apart: >Sunduke are found hanging from tree branches high in the canopy. Their front vines secrete a sweet dew which lures their prey to within striking distance.
Also if nobody else objects, I can add the three from earlier (Tox/Sanguito and Orbatom) to the Wiki.
>>18029511 I don't think dew is the right word here, since that just refers to the condensation you find on plants in the morning. I'd go with sap, or if you wanted to be a little bit more general, liquid. Other than that, I like it.
>>18029471 >Somebody plays the game differently than I do so they're the worst. You're probably one of those kids who whine about Legendaries to me on Showdown. >>18029489 Guess I was't aware of how big it was planned to be. They're available during the main game in every other game though so I'm hoping at least one trio is.
Im getting real tired of people trying to push gen 6 shit into the game. Fuck off already, this game has been programmed around gen V mechanics, and thats the way it has been for the entire fucking year worth of days this project has existed
>>18029764 >we want Abilities, Attacks and mechanics from gen 6 (like electric types not getting paralized)
for abilities, we had a pretty decent time limit given for people to submit new abilities for inclusion in the game so I don't know why you didn't have them submitted already...
Same for attacks...
Though one could argue that the time between the ability/attack submission deadline and the release of XY was too short for us to have known what was worth including from the new gen.
as for mechanics, I'm kind of ambivalent on the subject, I mean, it should be fine as long as we don't include anything that has to do with fairies... but at the same time, aren't most of the mechanics changes in Gen 6 a direct result of trying to balance the game after the introduction of the new typing? Couldn't any mechanics changes result in balance issues for our own game if we're not also including the new typing?
>>18030232 I think it depends on how difficult the task is, which is why I asked.
but for arguments sake, gen 1-4 mechanics already exist gen 5 is at least in the works if we were to add gen 6 it shouldn't be an unimaginably difficult job to include an option to switch between the two sets of mechanics.
>>18030656 >Capture Exp is one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard.
IDK, I've always wondered why your pokemon doesn't receive Exp. points for battles where you captured a mon, since the pokemon is technically 'experiencing' the battle you would think it would gain exp as long as it fought at all... though if you're gonna have capture exp I guess the next logical step would be runaway exp and having opponent NPC trainers pokemon levelup after KOing one of your mons.
it's not that different... but anyway, I wasn't really trying to make a tu quoquo argument, I was really just wondering why you would need moves that have a special niche function (like thief stealing items) be given a power boost when you could easily just teach your mon a different move.
>>18030365 http://pokemon-online.eu/forums/showthread.php?23001-Prominent-changes-in-gen-6 Those are all changes we could use with the exception of the Fairy type and the changes to the Steel type's resistances
There's a lot of good changes to move and abilities like Overcoat, Knock Off and Infiltrator
>>18031274 I think more of what they had in mind was that wish would be a really low level or/start move so you would really necessarily have to use a heart scale to learn it. Some GF pokemon do it and I personally find it a big pain in the ass and over complication of the level up while knowing a certain move concept
>>18031274 Some Pokémon have 5+ moves it learns at "Start". A Pokémon of that species obtained at level 1 would only know the last 4 of those moves, which means the others could never be learned by level up, even if they technically appear in the level-up movepool.
The Move Relearner (who charges Heart Scales) is the only way to access those moves.
>>18031380 I know snores distribution used to be among a lot of pokemon and then later in the generations it was put on less and less pokemon and that youd really want to have a high distribution. But I wonder, can birds really snore?
>>18031381 Instead of a runoff survey that the people above want for some ball-stomping reason, Id suggest that we use both actually. Have wish learned at level 32 as the winning suggestion does, but also put wish as a start move so no wild fortifry will have it but can be learned by heartscale
- Aura/pulse moves (powered up by Mega Launcher ability) - Ball/bomb moves (Bulletproof ability gives immunity to these) - Biting moves (powered up by Strong Jaw ability) - Substitutes no longer block sound-based moves
Obviously three of them only matter if the related abilities are to be used.
>>18031721 If Fortifry has Wish as a start move, and you breed it or catch a wild (let's say its first available at level 10, by which it's learned six moves and "forgot" two, one being Wish so that it doesnt have it) you could Heart Scale it on anyway, and evolve immediately at level 11 (wild) or as early as level 2 if hatched.
If its pure level up, you HAVE to get to 32 to evolve it, no matter what
>>18034185 Even though the emthod is convoluted, it seems off to me to have the potential of skipping over Fortifry entirely. Negates the 'trial' of having to train it, and the 'reward' you get for doing so.
>>18034785 True. Especially if Heart Scales are obtained FROM Fortifry. Do we even know where to get those, since Luvdisc doesn't exist?
please ignore the rest of this post >Luvdisc doesn't exist >>We still have heartscales >Pikachu doesnt exist >NO VOLT TACKLE ITS A SIGNATURE OF GAMEFREAKS HURRR THEYVE /NEVER/ MADE SIGS AVAILABLE REGULAR PEKERSHUUU IS SPESHUL CUZ MASCOT xD
Sorry for caps, I just needed to rant to get it off my chest.
>>18034636 Yes, you can have the Move Relearner teach any move that the Pokémon could have learnt at any level lower than its current level ("Start" counts as level 1).
Even if you choose to skip learning Wish at level 32, you can come back later on and get the Move Relearner to teach it after all.
>>18034887 FRLG used TinyMushroom and Big Mushroom instead of Heart Scale. We have 'shroom Pokémon which already hold those items. There's no need to force Heart Scales in if we can easily go with something else instead.
>>18035171 Crawglock getting Flash Fire, Moody, or Pressure kind of makes sense. Just think Pressure because it counters Discretion, like Lucario's Steadfast/Inner Focus combo or Mawile's Intimidate/Hyper Cutter. Not a fan though
>>18035330 >>18035376 I'd kinda dig that. I like the current moveset for Fortifry, but I do think it's a bit too easy to avoid any kind of challenge this way. Some semblence of utility or even just interest would be much approved of.
