I played at a tournament recently. M-Gengar is the only thing that saved me from that shit. Gamestop thought it would be cool to allow Ubers so I won the whole tournament mostly using E-Speed Arceus.

I don't like the idea of banning mega gengar, I dont care how broken it is. Ubers is a banlist for OU everythings fuckin broken, deal with it. What do i plag if i wanna use mega gengar and geo xerneas (they WILL ban this next)?

don't own a cartridge so I don't know much about Battle Spot, but isn't it 3v3? I personally prefer 6v6. That and I prefer playing in specific tiers rather than play some random guy who has OU-UU mons, that's just not fair.

I've never played a Pokemon game on cartridge and I consider myself to be pretty good at VGC and some other metagames.

Playing VGC in sims makes you worse, just saying. It gives you 0 learning experience.

You only get $3000, which will mostly go towards travel expenses.

From what? I'd thought the only money prize you get is that 10,000$ scholarship shit. Also, TPCi pays you the travelling if you do well, so...

How does it give 0 learning experience.

It's not like I'm ever planning to compete, but it most certainly gives you an idea of how things work.

>>20691903
It seems absurd, but playing on sims versus playing on game is a HUGE downgrade. You just don't get into the right mindset.--

I'm sorry for answering with that quote, but I can't explain it better. Also, the VGC ladder in Showdown is filled with noobs I can't deal with.
>>
Anonymous 08/25/14(Mon)20:42 UTC+1 No.20691984 Report

I'm cool with it. Ubers is the second most popular tier and Gengar is pretty broken.

because preventing switches is 'anti-game', because switching is a crucial part of the game.

nevermind that shadow tag itself isn't banned.

>You just don't get into the right mindset

What you mean to say is that it doesn't give you that "breeder" feeling. Your Pokemon are not raised by yourself if you play on simulator,so there's no attachement. As for actual battle performance,it doesn't mean shit. I'd say simulator VGC players are superior to cartridge ones as they can quickly test out various teams and get experienced as opposed to cartridge players who have to breed every time they want to try out a new Pokemon.

Shadow tag isn't banned because Gothitelle and Wobbuffet are both weak enough to make it mostly balanced. Gengar, on the other hand, is already fast, powerful and with a varied movepool. It was OU even without shadow tag, but shadow tag boosted it into hilariously broken.
>>
Anonymous 08/25/14(Mon)23:18 UTC+1 No.20693958 Report

>>20693843
Calm Mind Gothitelle is actually ridiculously effective in ubers. It can trap and set up on quite a few things in ubers (including mother fucking Palkia) and sweep at the easily-reached +6.

Shadow Tag as a mechanic is broken.
