Dragon View Anonymous 07/20/14(Sun)09:49 UTC+1 No.1785483 Report

I see no one talk about this game. Questionable world map aside, this shit is gold. Tight as fuck ARPG.

Looks pretty.
Will look into it.

Isn't this the sequel to Draken (or however it's spelled)?

Definitely look into it! It's so damn rad.
>>1785495
Yeah this is Drakkhen 2. They took the world map engine of the first one and used it in this. Other than that, the games are almost nothing alike.

Strangely enough, Dragon View directly references the plot of Drakkhen, including the bunch of dragons that appear out of fucking nowhere at the end.

Really, I cannot escape the fucking FEVER DREAM that is Drakkhen. The shit in that game will follow me forever.

I love Dragon View enough I've seriously considered attempting to conquer Drakkhen.

But every time I give it an earnest shot... this fucking shit.

Honestly, I will say that Drakkhen feels pretty strange and mysterious just because of some of the occurances like this, but it is pretty bullshit. That said, I haven't really played a game quite like it since, so I don't really know what to say about it at this point.

I agree. Though the game seems like a mess, it's got a crazy sense of mystery and exploration, at least from the perspective of someone who's completely baffled by the game. Really can't say whether it's good or bad. I can easily say that I usually don't have much fun out of playing it though, hilarious as it can be.

Dragon View is pretty great. I was surprised by how good it is.

If it got a sequel, I'd imagine it playing a little more like a sidescrolling beat-em-up, with combos and more special moves.

Also, it has an Airplane reference within the first minute of the game.

As someone who hasn't played Drakkhen, is there some story behind these enemies, or are they just tough bosses?

The first one is caused by looking at a certain constellation at night time.

The laser panther is caused by bumping into an urn in the overworld.

Long time ago, I don't even know how I finished it as a kid to be honest.

If you ever run into a constellation monster or laser panther, just immediately run away.

Typically you can run away from the fights pretty quickly, but you may suffer a casualty or two after getting away.

I only beat this game as a kid so I could finally get another game. My parents wouldn't let me get another game till I finished it.

I swear they purposely found the most cryptic, confusing, difficult game they could find so they didn't have to buy me any games for a while. But in some masochistic way, yes I enjoyed it in the end

jesus christ how horrifying

I kind of wish other RPGs where you could see the sky would do something similar. Yeah, it's a bullshit encounter, but I wish games had more of a random mystery to them now. While I don't "like" Drakkhen, I do think some of the cryptic, neat shit it did is pretty cool, if that makes sense.

I remember as a kid getting a glitch that I got in like the pyramid level that took me right to the credits.

Completely fucking messed up. It happens fairly often on emulators too, its a shame because besides map navigation, the game was fucking great.

Oh god that, in the SNES version it actually makes a different sound.

It moans loudly

The game really is unsettling the first time going through it, especially with no exposure to it prior to the first play. Even though it's a rough experience, it's certainly something to try once for how odd it is.

Wow didn't know about that glitch.

Ya know though, I use to hate the world map but I realize it at least does pretty well in giving a sense of exploration. There's plenty of neat stuff to find out there.
