From what I know it was a good emulator at the time and upscaled PS1 games to 480p so they look better than PS2 however I think there were only like 2-5 games available until Fony sued them.

The Dreamcast port of THPS2 is the best version of vanilla THPS2, you should probably get that if you like skateboarding games. Jet Set Radio is pretty rad, but you're better off buying it on Steam or really anything except smartphones. Propeller Arena is decent, you should look it up and play it if it looks cool to you.
>>1711136
schtserv is shit.
>>1711361
It doesn't upscale them, it actually renders them at 640x480.

I'm mad that you can't have a game on your VMU when you play Seaman because some dumbass thought there would ever be two people that played it who know eachother and they would want to trade food.

Seconding THPS2, easily the best version and has more accessible cheats than the shitty N64 version. Also Spiderman.

Jet Grind Radio is right up there with Shenmue as one of the best exclusives for the system, despite it being recently ported.

Q*bert and Frogger 2 are good games that no one ever mentions.

Hydro Thunder, Cannon Spike, Chu Chu Rocket, Mr Driller, Power Stone, Zero Gunner 2, Gunbird 2, Triggerheart Exelica, Border Down, Ikaruga, Mars Matrix, Giga Wing 2, Soul Calibur, House of the Dead 2, Zombie Revenge, Dynamite Cop, Bangai-O, Rayman 2, Toy Commander, Gunlord.

I wonder why the Dreamcast never got a port of THPS3, though. Would've beat the hell out of the N64 and PS1 versions.

It was like SA was a prototype for something really great and SA2 butchered it right away.

kind of like how the ps2 was discontinued but so many poor latins want to play their fifa on their ps2's they kept porting them.

Hey Op, what a coincidence, I just busted mine out and fixed the laser like ten minutes ago

currently burning a stack of games

IMO every multi-plat that gen was best on Dreamcast.

Star Wars Demolition is my favorite game that while not completely forgotten is sort of a side note in Star Wars games, I recommend it

I was thinking about the vmu the other day, and pondered, I mean shit sansa players are like 20 bucks. Would a Dreamcast 2 or any other console for that matter benefit from having another much higher quality vmu? Something you could pop out of your controller, have your games saved to it in addition to music for custom soundtracks and of course things like hidden plays in madden and stuff that wasnt really utilized with the vmu due to it being so reltively shitty..

My friends and I played drunk Power Stone 2 and Crazy Taxi a few weeks ago. I kept it plugged in since after I rediscovered my stack of burned games. I bought some CR2032 batteries and put them into one of my VMUs. That shit that takes me back.

What DC games had the best VMU minigames? I'm thinking of loading up Skies of Arcadia and replaying the item collection minigame.

So what if there was a kickstarter for the Dreamcast 2? Bear with me for a sec. It's not a NEW console, but an upgraded Dreamcast. Most of the hardware would be the same, a reproduction Dreamcast essentially. New would be
-Brand new GUI/BIOS
-Ethernet and WiFi
-16 GB flash memory
-USB port
-HDMI out (includes older video out as well)
-New controller (Saturn 3D pad redesigned for Dreamcast)
-Sega store where you can download select games
The system would run all old games, including burnt ones and 3rd party games, and they would also have a new VMU available for purchase. It would retail for around $120.

Yeah its 4player vs 2 and the stages are arguably more interesting but its heavily dumbed down.

it would literally be cheaper just to stick in an Android SoC and emulate the Dreamcast games. A shame too, cause I'd pop dosh for one, if it actually played physical DC games as well.

Project Justice!

And yeah, it's worth noting that this console has a really annoying quirk: copy protection doesn't work, but region lock does. So if you get any legit Japanese games, they won't run (but downloaded, burned ones will.)

Oh Sega, what were you thinking?

Something of a hidden gem.

Elemental Gimmick Gear. A 2D mecha RPG that plays like a Zelda clone.

It's very fun.
