I always see the point raised that Genesis' library shines in its hidden gems. Games that are good in their own right but didn't really do much to stand out. Solid titles. This point made during SNES v Genesis debates to uplift the Genesis and kick sand in the SNES' face for having THOSE GAMES (the ones everyone knows about).

So my question here is, what are hidden gems on the SNES that are rarely listed? I believe both consoles are equally for their own reason. I just want to compile a list of notable SNES titles that doesn't forget the ones that time did. I remember some japanese only sidescroller that was lighthearted and had a princess as the main protagonist, I think, who used magic to fight. I think it was magical pop?

Yes, the game is Magical Pop'n.

Just check the recommended wiki. It has most of the best unknown games.

Also play Terranigma. If I had had to chop a finger to have it on Mega Drive I think I would've done it.

There's tons of SNES games that aren't mentioned too often but are top quality, IMO better than the best quality available on genesis. and I love both.

Games like,

front mission
seiken densetsu 3
assault suit (cybernator)
chaos seed
Tales of phantasia
star ocean
doremi fantasy
fire emblem
feda
energy breaker

the list goes on..

There are a ton of very high quality games for SNES. IMO the most of any console ever.

Oh I forgot about doremi fantasy.

Anything else? I understand the list goes on, but I'd like to see it in length.

Umihara Kawase is my favorite platformer series and the first one is on SNES. Japan only, but there is almost no Japanese text in the game at all.
There's a Kunio beat-em-up by the name of Shin Nekketsu Kouha - Kunio-tachi no Banka as well that's worth playing.

Let's see

R-Type III
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters
Final Fight 3

are all worth looking at. Don't know if they reall count as THOSE GAMES.

If you want to go deeper you can look at:

Pocky and Rocky
Doom Troopers
Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition

I only know a few (that aren't well known)

On SNES:
Gundam Wing Endless Duel
Tetris Battle Gaiden
PopnTwinbee/Parodius

On Genesis:
Gauntlet 4 (quest mode)

don't miss this one. You reset to maximum health if you return to the starting area, and you level up, gaining 6 different attributes, equipment, boss-guarded stat potions that are permanent, as well as 4 rings that give you unusual abilities. Once you find every glowing tile on a level, it is cleared and the monsters and lairs never repopulate on that level. The starting class (usually) only affects starting stats, and final max stats. The music is fantastic, especially the wind tower. Make sure you play the quest mode, not the standard game.

Mario & Wario (uses the SNES mouse)
Metal Max Returns
On the Ball
Shin Megami Tensei series
Horai Gakuen no Bouken!
Live a Live
Godzilla: Kaijuu Daikessen
Majyuuou
Bahamut Lagoon
Spider-Man: Lethal Foes (Japan-only, strangely enough)

The hidden gems of the snes have been brought into the light over the years. Hidden gems of the snes are considered standard games on boards like this.
