>Resident Evil (2002) sold poorly
>if it sold well there probably would have been a remake of RE2 of the same quality

It just hurts. It just... hurts.

Although the perfect remake would have been:

>fully 3D
>RE4 style aiming and inventory
>everything else the same
>>
PB 07/22/14(Tue)11:39 UTC+1 No.1792172 Report

I disagree. The remake was perfectly fine as it was. RE4 controls would ruin it.

RE4 was a great game. I think if they had the inventory system like RE4 for REmake it could've worked well.

I know that feel.
I made the wise decision to buy a GameCube about a year ago and it came with 0. I bought REmake for $20 somewhere and managed to find RE3 for $1. It's definitely worth it. I sleep better at night knowing I can play the last/greatest bastion of survival horror before it went to shit.

Are you playing on hard or easy? I believe you get a pack to expand your inventory on hard, you start with it on easy. Easy is fuckin lame though. 2 automatic rifle clips, a magnum and 12 shells, piles of ammo for the shotgun and rifle. Ew.

Basically, on keep the handgun and your ammo, a loaded shotgun and a first aid spray on you at any time. Run from nemesis, kill what big shit you can with the shotgun and run past the rest, that leaves you with more than enough handgun ammo for most zombies. Leave all key items in your box until you need them, even if you have the item, know where it goes and there's another box on the way, grab it at the second box.
The amount of items they throw at you slows after the train.

The pack in 4 was fun but it destroyed any concept of "survival" in survival horror pretty much for good.
I have mixed feelings about 4. It's a great game, I have no complaints other than it derailing the Resident Evil train.
It might've been necessary to make the more action-based for 4 to succeed but it really soiled everything I loved about resident evil, which was growing stale to be fair. I just don't understand why they let it get as bad as 5 and 6.

RE1 is king.
RE2 is king of kings.
RE3 is king.

RE3 Hard is pretty difficult like, inventory shuffling gets easier once you get the extra space from Carlos when you first find the train.
Best avoiding the nemesis too (save the first two) fuck that guy.

Why are anons giving the OP a hard time for the fully 3D with RE4 style aiming and inventory? Personally I agree with him. In fact I wouldn't just stop there. I would add some co op as well, more zombies, some extra areas. REmake 2 needs to have RE 1-3 horror with RE4 camera. It's not only makes the game much better but it also would be what likely happens to a REmake 2.
>>
Anonymous 07/23/14(Wed)11:45 UTC+1 No.1795719 Report

>>1795691
No. You should've played Outbreak if you wanted that. The inventory in 0-3 and CV is fine. It was appropriate in 4, but don't try to suggest that the rest would benefit from 4. 4 was great but it was the first of an increasingly subpar reinvention of a perfect series that was growing stale. It was a fantastic standalone game, but the originals surpass it in every way, besides being a fun action-shooter.
>>
Anonymous 07/23/14(Wed)11:49 UTC+1 No.1795730 Report

>>1795719
I played a little of Outbreak. The RE4 style camera became revolutionary. It set the standard that many TPS games follow today. A REmake 2 with that camera is the way to go. I didn't like RE6 gameplay changes. It became way too actiony. If they could make the game play more like RE4 or Deadspace which imo improved RE4's gameplay than that is the way they should go. Add some co op and you have got a pretty great remake of a classic.

That camera means the same playstyle, except sped up and lackluster like every RE game since 4. 2 needs to be done the same way as 1 was. The addition of a moving/swinging camera is as far as I'd be happy seeing it go, but that third-person fixed action bullshit needs to stay the fuck away.

Because they would have to render and probably even redo all the 2D assets. They might not even have all of the original resources anymore.

The background images look really poor and out of place when displayed at non original resolutions so they'd have to redo them.

That's why an HD remake of both RE and RE0 are unlikely. Which is fine because they still look fucking amazing on an SDTV

The 3rd person could work for RE2 if they kept ammo limited and beefed up enemies like lickers.

Just to chip in about WHY it's so asinine to want RE4 in REmake: Think of Twin Snakes of GC. The environment is clearly designed for the mechanics of the PS1--no first person aiming, no hanging off rails. Doing these things in TS just made the game feel really awkward. You can't gracefully mix very new mechanics into traditional environments gracefully.

And fuck you--flailing around like a drunken tank driver as three crimson heads run at you from a part of the screen you see is half the fun, dammit.
