I'm going to guess it's a pleb/casual tier thing. Nothing in depth. No hidden Japanese or obscure games. I'm certain the list is going to be all the big games for every console for the last 30 years.

It's a neat coffee table book or something to flip through but hardcore gamers focus on their genres and dig deep to find those special obscure examples that feel like were made just for them.

I haven't read it but at 1001 there's gotta be some lesser known titles

Not really. That's only an average of 25 games a year over 40 years of video gaming. I guess it depends on one's definition of "lesser known"

It's shit. Only about 250 or so are acutally retro, and the rest are all modern. Seems like it was made with current gen gamers in mind.

And there's barely any japanese exclusives. The only one I can remember was Mother 3. They skipped so many essential games it's ridiculous, and opted to add too many games with the same franchises.

It has a lot of trash from the mid 2000's, but at the same time a lot of lesser known gems from the PC side.
Also, it spoils Mother 3's ending for you.

It has a lot of obscure PC games from the early eras of gaming, if I remember correctly, and there are barely any NES games mentioned.

Meh, it's okay.
