This is the biggest thing for a lot of games now. I feel like I actually have to invest quite a bit of time before I even get to good gameplay segments, while on old games, you hit start and the game goes from 0 to 60.

Part of the problem is just within a genre (Almost no one does an RPG where you're given depth in combat right from the start, instead requiring you to level up a bunch and find/buy equipment and spells to gain options), but sometimes I just feel like devs intentionally drag out the start for some reason.
