XENOGEARS / Perfect Works Anonymous 06/24/14(Tue)20:41 UTC+1 No.1712975 Report

I'm currently playing Xenogears and I was wondering what would be the best time to read the Perfect Works.
After finishing Xenogears? Maybe after the Xenosaga trilogy? I really don't want to be spoiled...

Here's the whole (translated) book, if anyone is interested:

Definitely read it after xenogears. If you read it during you will be spoiled like crazy. I'm pretty sure xenosaga is just a spiritual successor to xenogears so reading perfect works won't spoil anything for that.

Do you have it in pdf format?

Xenosaga has nothing to do with it, thank god, except a couple easter eggs if you can call them that. But it's unrelated story-wise.

Def read after. Too many spoilers in PW.

Xenosaga's not too connected, though as I recall it was initially meant to be. It has it's own outside resources though, in order to understand the full saga (Pied Piper, Xenosaga Perfect Guide, and A Missing Year).

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I have been playing Xenoblade a lot lately and it got me interested in the Xeno series. I know that the games don't have any chronological order but are there similarities like the battle system or so?

Read it after Xenogears. It really helps one understand Xenogear's mythos and gives a better appreciation of what the game was trying to convey.

Speaking of Perfect Works, I recall there being at least a few different fan translations of it. Is there a particular one that is the best, or most accurate, or do they all have their pros and cons to the translation quality?

As far as I know Xenoblade is something of a stand alone that was only named that way as a tribute to the shared director for it, Xenogears, and Xenosaga (Xenoblade was originally called Monado: Beginning of the World), only shares occasional themes or references here and there, and if you're expecting real time combat in the earlier games, you might be disappointed. Still, you ought to at least give Xenogears a try if you enjoy JRPGs, as it's a classic.

As far as I know, there are two translations, one good and one bad. I don't know which one OP posted though.

>that first few pages in Xenogears PW that outlines the whole idea TT had for Project Noah.

...what could have been.

Flame away, but it would have been the Dune or LOTR of JRPG sci-fi gaming.

Based OP Thanks.
And, just as >>1714462
said, it's not related story-wise, so, you could read it after finishing Xenogears

Thanks, I had this on one comp, but that comp broke. I don't care for the actual games, but I LOVE the designs, especially the mecha ones.
